The Trail of the Painted Ponies began in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2001. It was a public art project for the promotion of cultural tourism, featuring the art community of the Southwest. One of it's purposes was to raise money for worthwhile philanthropic organizations. The Trail of the Painted Ponies , which consisted of full scale hand painted ponies accomplished it's goal and raised almost a million dollars for youth, arts, social, animal and environmental groups. The figurines are each sequentially numbered open editions. Most of the ponies we have available are retired . No more ponies will be made after an edition is retired.
